A new space for everyday living
The renovation study of a family house in Jindřichův Hradec focuses on the sensitive transformation of an existing terraced house into a полноценný home for a family of four. The design builds on the original structure, respects the character of the surrounding development, and at the same time introduces new spatial and functional qualities that reflect contemporary living.
The main goal was to create a house that is bright, practical, and naturally connected to the garden—a place for everyday family life, shared moments, and quiet privacy.
The layout is based on a clear division of the house into three levels. The basement concentrates technical and service functions—storage, a workshop, and a relaxation area with a sauna.
The main living floor is designed as an open space connecting the kitchen, dining area, and living room, all oriented towards the garden. This creates a central living area that supports everyday family interaction and a natural connection to the exterior.
The interior is conceived as a restrained and light framework with an emphasis on natural materials. Wood, neutral surfaces, and carefully designed built-in elements create a contemporary yet civil and comfortable living environment.
The key role is played by long-term functionality, sufficient storage space, and access to natural daylight.
The concept extends seamlessly into the exterior—the garden is understood as a full-fledged extension of the house, an active part of everyday life with a terrace for seating, a central fire pit, raised planting beds, and space for children’s play. The overall design emphasizes timelessness and a calm aesthetic that does not follow short-term trends, but instead matures naturally together with the house and its inhabitants.
An important part of the design is also the use of the attic as a fully habitable space, adding another layer of privacy to the layout. The space works with the atmosphere of sloped ceilings, built-in furniture, and varying height levels, creating a naturally articulated environment. The attic thus becomes a playful yet calm zone for children as well as for family relaxation—a place that supports imagination, focus, and a sense of intimacy.
The study of a family house in Jindřichův Hradec focuses on the sensitive transformation of the existing structure into a contemporary home with a clear and functional layout. Emphasis is placed on spatial openness, ample daylight, and a natural connection between the interior and the garden.
The design aims to create a house that is practical, legible, and sustainable in the long term, while offering a flexible framework for everyday family life, work, and rest.
